The hand held poker vibrator issued for compacting concrete by removing air in the concrete there by increase the strength of concrete.
The poker vibrator is used in conjunction with a drive unit which is attached to the part of the spindle which sticks out of the drive unit motor housing.

Operating Instructions
- Insert the vibrator quickly into the concrete. When compaction is complete, withdraw it slowly to avoid leaving a hole.
- Compaction is complete when the surface of the concrete gets a water sheen and air bubbles no longer break through it.
- Concrete must be placed in layers and the tip of the poker must penetrate the layer below to knit the concrete.
- The poker must be inserted at regular intervals in both directions. Points of insertion should be no more than 10 times poker diameter.
- Where void formers occur, concrete should be placed and compacted from one side until it has flowed under the obstruction.
- The poker must not touch the formwork.
- Slump of concrete for compacting by means of a poker vibrator is normally between 50 to 125 mm.

Product Description - Drive Unit - Petrol
This portable drive unit is designed to power flex shaft drive submersible pumps and concrete vibrator pokers. A quick action 60 mm diameter flexible shaft coupling with aluminium alloy housing, rotary trigger latch and hardened45 mm 3-tooth dog drive enable ease of use by allowing the operator to simply engage or disengage the flexible shaft coupling, to facilitate either a change of position or a change of flexi shaft driven device. The drive units are available in a swivel cradle type frames as well as a sturdy roll over frame The swivel action on the cradle frame allows for easy movement when vibration concrete whereas the roll over frame provides a strong steel cage to protects the engine.

Operating Instructions
Before engaging the flex shaft with a petrol drive unit start the motor using the recoil starter, increase the speed to full throttle and allow it to warm up for a few minutes. (If the motor is fitted with an on/off switch this must first be turned ON before starting.) Stop the motor. Turn the bellhousing trigger 180 degrees. Insert the flex shaft coupling fully into the housing of the drive unit and release the trigger. Push the coupling into the housing and twist the flexible shaft until the drive dogs are fully engaged and the trigger returns to the horizontal position. The motor may now be started Drive units should be operated on a level surface. If the surface is not level the drive unit should be restrained to ensure that it does not move due to vibration or the weight of a pump and hose or vibrator.
