Operating Instructions

• The Roller Compactor uses diesel fuel only. Do not let the machine run out of diesel. A call-out charge to restart will apply.
• Never refuel a roller compactor unless the engine is stopped and cool. Refuelling a hot engine can result in burns or explosions.
• Do not operate roller compactors or any gasoline-powered machines inside a building or other enclosed environment that is not fully vented.
• Stop the Roller Compactor’s movement before changing between forward and reverse operation.
• Do not jerk the machine between forward and reverse to turn.
• The thickness of the layer to be compacted should not exceed 200mm.
• Make sure compaction material is slightly moist and avoid over-compaction.
• Avoid operating a roller compactor on a fully compacted, hard or non-yielding surface. Running a compactor on these surfaces will inflict costly damage to the unit and could redirect the plate's vibratory forces away from the surface to the operator, causing injury.
• Never operate the machine on solid/hard surfaces, e.g. concrete, asphalt, etc., when vibration is on.
• Avoid the machine hitting against structures or rocks, etc.
• Always keep your hands and clothing away from the compactors' moving parts.
• Make certain the work area is clear of debris to prevent tripping or falling onto the machine.
• When operating on a relatively level grade, a roller compactor will move under its own power with the operator simply directing its travel path. When compacting on a grade that is not level, the operator might have to take steps to ensure his or her safety.
• During uphill compaction, do not exceed a 20-degree angle.
• Roller compactors also tend to slide sideways when operating on a sloping terrain. To prevent the roller from sliding, steer the roller toward the rise of the slope to angle the machine.
• Do not sit on the roller compactor while operating.
